Australian Mic Newman is a Melbourne based deep house producer bringing a lot of attention on to his home city alongside cohorts like Tornado Wallace. He’s released a fine, alive sounding brand of modern deep house on imprints like 2020Vision off-shoot FINA as well as Tsuba, Classic and Illusion. As a DJ, too, he is ever more in demand, playing parties at fabric in London, Privilege in Ibiza and plenty more around the UK and Europe.
For a taste of his style this podcast is a great place to start: Kicking off with Moodyman’s “Don’t You Want My Love” the mix goes on to wobble through plenty of warm grooves, fresh percussive workouts and rousing vocal jams that never stray too far from 120bpm and never feel anything other than heart warming. A fast rising talent still with plenty to say, Mic Newman is quickly becoming an essential man to watch in 2012.

His most recent release on Dikso, Super Sound Singles Vol. 6, continues to wow house heads. ”For The King” is such a jacking affair—with its weighty stabs, druggy vox, and punchy acid-fueled bassline providing a suitable throb for the dancefloor—that we just had to get the 411 from the man himself. So allow us to introduce you to Kitano.
One of the most influential labels of the 90’s is making it’s way back to the forefront with a string of new releases set through the year. This time, it’s WAT artist Mic Newman who puts his mark on No Dial Tone’s “about You’ as personally requested by head honcho Luke Soloman.
